Denver’s First Invaders!

It was not the Beatles.  It was a duo closely associated with the Fab Four – Peter and Gordon.

The Beatles were to soon visit the Mile High City on their first American continent tour – scheduled to come to the famous Red Rocks amphitheater in August of 1964.  But the British duo of Peter and Gordon preceded them by a few weeks.  The Beatles added Red Rocks late – perhaps getting a heads up from Peter and Gordon.

 As you can see Peter and Gordon teamed up with founding rocker Chuck Berry for this summer appearance.  Rock and Roll acts seldom were scheduled into the Red Rocks venue prior to the 1970s.  Very few Invasion acts came to the amphitheater.
