Beatles Ride High for the New Year!

“I Feel Fine” continued at number one entering the second year of the British Invasion, followed closely by the flip side of the record “She’s a Woman” remaining at number 4 from the previous week.

January witnessed the entry into the charts of the Beau Brummels with “Laugh, Laugh”.  Many believed they were from England until we learned they were part of the emerging San Francisco scene.  Only Adam Faith entered the charts with a debut during January 5th with “It’s Alright” at number 128.   The song would climb eventually to number 31.  The Searcher’s and the Zombies both joined the Beatles in the top ten.

Week of January 2nd, 1965

#1 – The Beatles – I Feel Fine (two weeks running at number 1)
#4 – The Beatles – She’s a Woman
#5 – The Searchers – Love Potion Number 9
$7 – The Zombies – She’s Not There
