Those Single Girls!

February 20, 2015

Been busy posting Single Girl singers covering most genres within the 1950’s and 60’s.  Heaviest concentration is mid 1950’s through the 1960’s with a few 1970’s thrown in – with the additional criteria (for now) of Posting those artists for which I could locate a graphic – including first and foremost – picture sleeves – or then turning to Chart advertisements, then sheet music and in some cases picture sleeves from other countries.  Two pages now – more to come as I add to this new category:

A tip-of-the hat to collector and picture sleeve specialist Fred Hoyt for contributing many of the picture sleeve images!

  1. Interesting collection; I played several of these on the radio when new! Incidentally, the pic sleeve of Robin Ward is not the same artist who did “Wonderful Summer.” This was posted by “Darryl” on the Spectropop discussion list in 2013:

Just a clarification on Robin Ward.
There were actually two singers in the 1960’s named Robin Ward.
They are historically often combined and regularly their catalogs
are mixed on websites offering their music.

The following quote can be found in this group’s blog:
“She had another (earlier, I think) 45 on the Songs
Unlimited label, “I Surrender Dear”, that came in a pic sleeve.”

This is not the same Robin Ward of “Wonderful Summer” fame.
This Robin Ward was born August 25, 1945 in Brewster, NY, birth
name Virginia Robin Ward, married name Virginia Robin Ware.

Her other recordings on Songs Unlimited Label are “Stepping Stone”,
“I Believe Now”, “Rhinoceros”, “Lolly Too Dum”, and “Loser’s Lullaby”.

She currently lives in New Fairfield, CT and does live performances
in the metro NY & CT area.

Basically anything released on Songs Unlimited Label is the less
famous, yet still extremely talented Robin Ward. Even Wikipedia
    has them combined.

A cursory glance has not found any sides by this Robin Ward posted on the net, but a less-cursory one (by someone else) might.
