The Longest Day…..

It’s June 21st.  The days are getting shorter

The retail outlets will soon be clearing their shelves of swim wear, shorts and sandals to make room for winter coats and gloves **** The Broncos will be gearing up for their season opener **** The ski slopes will soon be breaking out the snow making mechanisms **** ‘Christmas in July sales are coming soon **** Any morning now in the early hours you will be able to see your breath in the crisp fall air **** Walmart and Target will be breaking out their ‘back-to-school’ supplies and clothes **** The first tints of red and yellow aspen leaves will appear in the mountains **** If you haven’t already departed on on a ‘summer holiday’ vacation – you might as well wait until next summer – it’s too late now **** Lo Do is preparing for their Oktoberfest celebration **** Time to wax down the skis **** Might want to bring up the boxes of Christmas decorations from the basement checking bulbs and such …… We will soon be commuting to and from work in darkness with Daylight Savings long gone….

June 20th marks the beginning of the end – from here on out it is a dull and dreaded march toward the shortest day of the year on December 21st.

That school is in
Now I can see my old
Classmates again I worked and slaved
The summer through
Doing the things

And scrubbed the floor
And taught the baby
How to count to four I made the beds
And cut the grass
I’m glad that school
Is in at last”

  1. The Jamies (perfect baroque four-part harmony with a beat) and Tommy Roe’s most progressive and beautiful hit – you made my day! Happy longest day, Craig!
