From Denver’s “Gary and Eddie” to Country Big Time

Gary Morris of "Gary & Eddie"

Gary Morris of “Gary & Eddie”

NOTE:  The following information comes in from Blog visitor Fran – April, 2016

Gary’s roots in Colorado go back into the early 1970’s when he migrated from Texas to the Colorado with fellow musician Eddie Johnson where they landed about a six year gig at the Taylor’s Supper Club located on West Colfax Avenue in Denver.  It was there that they appeared as “Gary and Eddie” and recorded one LP and a single on the Taylor’s “Cartay” label.  They performed live at Taylor’s along with female musician Teri Hernandez.  The group was apparently also billed as “Tomorrow’s Time” and “Taylor’s Cowboys”.

Eddie Johnson departed Colorado sometime in the mid 1970s’, returning to Texas to achieve his degree in dentistry.  He returned to Colorado where he set up practice in Littleton and he would join the local police based group “The Lawmen”, performing once again at Taylor’s.

Probably after Johnson’s departure, Gary and Teri continued on for a time as a duo called “Breakway”, releasing at least one single on the local Gorilla label (shown below).  Gary, of course, moved on to huge fame in country music.  He still has a presence in Colorado, with a mountain residence where he enjoys Colorado’s natural wonders.
