Denver’s Family Dog – Fun While It Lasted

The following are handbills from Denver’s Family Dog related directly to the Family Dog in San Francisco in California.  In San Fran the Dog was described as a “free-spirited rock promoter named Chet Helms (teaming) up with a bunch of hippies and started putting on some of the greatest rock events of all time.”  These performances took place in San Franciso’s Avalon Ballroom.

This was 1966.  Graphic artists were hired to do the promotional flyers.  The Denver Family Dog was a physical establishment and was operational in 1967 and 1968.  There were 16 posters designed for the concerts in Denver most illustrated below.
