From the Land of Band Box Records

“But the thrill we’ve never known
Is the thrill that’ll gitcha when you get your picture
On the cover of the Rollin’ Stone”

I purchased my first Rolling Stone Magazine in May of 1971 when I returned home from a stint in Viet Nam.  Music took a big turn from the time I entered the military in 1969 to 1971.  But I still hadn’t last interest.  It was the advent of the “singer/songwriter” with Carol King, James Taylor, Elton John, Carly Simon and many more stepping to the forefront.  I balanced my purchase of the Stone (“All the News that Fits”) with a monthly purchase of “Goldmine” magazine – back when that monthly collector’s rag was immense with thousands and thousands of records for sale in each issue.  And as a bonus, there were some pretty good articles.  I recall Wayne Stierle being one of my favorites.
