From the Land of Band Box Records

Hank Hunter was another Brill Building 1960’s era composer.  I have very little information about him.  He did collaborate for a time with Neil Sedaka and also Jack Keller.  He worked for Aldon Music which co-opted with many  Brill Building writers and eventually departed to become independent.  Connie Francis hired him for a time to writer for her.  He managed to hit the Top Ten on four occasions with “Second Hand Love” by Connie Francis being his biggest hit.

  1. FYI. Hank hunter says just for old times sake was a top 10 in the states and was covered by Eddie Arnold in the 70’s and was a country hit. One way ticket, a huge international hit in the80’s. Hank was the only writer to collaborate with both Neil Sedaka and Phil Spector

    • Thanks for that update! Must have been great to have been part of that golden age of creating!

    • I noticed that Hank Hunter was involved in a Van Trevor Band Box recording. Can you tell me where this might have taken place? Which State and studio?

  2. Is Hank Still with us, or has he “passed”….

    • Odd that I can’t really find information on the life of Hank Hunter beyond the mentions in the book “Always Magic in the Air” – He worked with Neil Sedaka and wrote with several song writers but whether he is still alive remains unknown (to me)
