This location, 3100 East Colfax, was also Pick-A-Rib, Hawks, Le Bistro A Go Go, and the Mad Rushin, Good Friends and Annie’s – According to the first ad show here, the Band Box opened in April of 1959.

In 1960 the Band Box began booking national bands.

  1. Charles Burrell (Charlie Burrelli) was an African American upright bassist that played in The Denver Symphony, and regularly played jazz gigs around the greater Denver area. He was a fantastic cat.
