She has recorded and performed with The Colorado Folk Ensemble, which featured intricate arrangements with autoharp, cello, violin, and guitar. Pete Wernick (of Hot Rise fame) described the group’s sound as “Old Time New Age Chamber Music” — a blend of traditional, classical, and jazz elements. The ensemble toured for Columbia Artists Management doing community concerts around the Western states. They also played at many prestigious folk venues, including the Hudson River Revival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, Winfield Folk Festival, and Old Songs Festival.” (from her web site)

CHUCK PYLE
Chuck passed away on November 6th, 2015
From Chuck’s biography:
“Chuck Pyle has won high praise from both fans and peers alike throughout an inspired performance career of over 40 years. When reviewers first gave him the “Zen Cowboy” moniker, he decided to, as he says, “Always ride the horse in the direction it’s going,” and took the nickname to heart, shaving his head and blending his upbeat perspective with old-fashioned horse sense. He mixes infectiously hummable melodies with straight-from-the-saddle poetry, quoting bumper stickers, proverbs, world leaders and old cowboys.
An accomplished songwriter, Chuck’s songs have been recorded by John Denver, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Suzy Bogguss. Country fans know him best for writing, “Cadillac Cowboy”, recorded by the late Chris LeDoux, and “Jaded Lover”, recorded by Jerry Jeff Walker.”

QUEEN
The glamour rock band appeared on the campus of Regis College (now Regis University) in North Denver on April 16th, 1974 along with fellow U.K. band Mott the Hoople.
THE QUEEN CITY JAZZ BAND (1920’S – DENVER)
Long before the other ACJB appeared – this group of musicians performed around Denver and were based in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood.
THE QUEEN CITY JAZZ BAND
Appeared often at the Mon-Vue Village on West Alameda
The Queen City Jazz Band (Image from “The Denver Eye”)This from Scott Yanow on the KEZW web site:
“The Queen City Jazz Band has been one of the longest-running active American dixieland-oriented bands of the past 40 years. They began with a weekend gig at a small roadhouse near Denver in 1958 originally called “Greg Allen’s Mon-Vue Village” and since that time has appeared at a countless number of festivals, clubs and on over 20 recordings for Audiophile and their own Happy Hairy Zeno Productions. The group has through the years gone through a lot of turnover; in fact none of the musicians on their 1966 Audiophile Lp was still performing with the band by 1975!
Mid 1960’s members included Dave Moldenhaurer (cornet), Steve Watson (tuba), Gordon Ellinger (drums), Mary Ann Kay (vocals), Lee Peters (clarinet), Ron Harrison (piano), Alan Frederickson (trombone, Bob Burdick (banjo), Herb Ordelheide (banjo), Ray Leake (piano), Bill Clark (tuba), Maurie Walker (banjo) and Jack Cook (drums).
In 1983, drummer Marl Shanahan was a member, show below in Estes Park. Marl was the father of Denver Soul Survivor’s drummer Pat Shanahan.
The 1993 lineup consisted of the leader Bill Clark on tuba, trumpeter John Bartmann, Lance Acker on reeds, trombonist Mark Janicki, pianist Hank Troy, banjoist Jim Tracy, drummer Marl Shanahan and Wende Harston on vocals. Despite the change in personnel, the basic goal and style of the group has remained the same, drawing its inspiration from 1920’s jazz but developing its own sound within the tradition.”
