Extended 45 rpm records seldom land on the Hot 100 – but once again – the public’s demand for Beatle product – especially for cuts not readily obtainable by many other means – landed Capitol recording 2121 onto number 105. A week later the EP would peak at number 92.

Dusty Springfield continued her steady diet of U.S. hits – with “Wishin’ and Hopin” debuting and going on to be a top ten (number 6) hit. Rita Pavone most likely cannot be counted among the invaders, but I always wondered if the record would have charted in the U.S. at all if the door had not been opened by the U.K. groups and artists. “Remember Me” topped out at number 26.

The Swinging Blue Jeans enjoyed the first and last long play entry into the charts this week with “Hippy Hippy Shake” their hit single title. The long play would run for a short 9 weeks reaching number 90.
The Applejacks
This little known U.K. band enjoyed their only chart success with “Tell Me When”. The record would reach only number 135 and then exit. The group formed in about 1961 with original members Martin Baggot, Philip Cash, Megan Davies and Gerry Freeman – all coming from the group “The Jaguars” and then the “Crestas”. Don Gould and Al Jackson were both on board by the time this single reached the U.S.
