The “Lost Generation” Goes to the Movies 1950s
That generation of our siblings who came ahead of us (“us” being the baby boom generation and “our siblings” being the lost generation), were very fortunate. Not only did they bring rock and roll into our world, but when they were occupied boppin’ and rockin’, they could head for the local Denver area movie house and enjoy a great teen flick.
Needless to say, parents and congressmen were not too enthusiastic about these corruptive films. But that is what made them ‘must sees!’
And naturally the Hollywood movie makers didn’t really relate to the product they were putting out the door, and so the choice of lead actors was often way off the mark!
In general, the theaters (at least in Denver) didn’t run large print ads for these films, probably not deeming them worthy of that much attention.
So here we take a trip back to many of the Denver area theaters and in some instances beyond, to enjoy a motion picture just for the “lost”. (Many of us probably tagged along with our big brothers and sisters if our parents made them take us!)
